Miles Davis and William Beck, the partners, have an excellent combined employment background in investment funds and analysis, and a strong history in wine investment, combining financial discipline with industry knowledge.

The fund managers are advised by Steven Spurrier, the internationally renowned consultant editor of Decanter magazine. Through strong industry contacts, WAM has excellent execution capability, enabling it to source stock at very competitive prices and avoid punitive exit fees. WAM is not a wine merchant and is not associated to any wine merchants and has no conflicts of interest.

Miles Davis, Partner Age: 44

Miles started his City career in 1984 on the trading floor of the London Stock Exchange before shifting emphasis to concentrate on the stock markets of the Far East. Whilst covering the emerging markets of Asia he became directly involved in the creation, structuring, marketing and trading of investment funds.

Towards the end of his capital markets career he was Head of Sales of Bear Stearns International's Investment Funds team and then Managing Director of the highly successful Investment Funds Department at Teather & Greenwood Ltd. He has a house in France and has been interested in fine wine for 20 years. He has been a collector and an investor for the last 15 years. Bordeaux is his passion.

William Beck, Partner Age: 42

Prior to co-founding Wine Asset Managers LLP with Miles in 2005, Will had been an equity investment analyst and financial consultant since 1993. He began his financial career with Cazenove & Co, and spent six years in the Far East, where he became Head of Regional Utilities Research for SG Securities in Asia. He spent the last six years as a senior corporate research analyst at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Will has outstanding skills in contemporary investment analysis and valuation methodology. He has been collecting wine for over 10 years and has a history of successful investments in fine wine.

Steven Spurrier, Wine expert and Advisor to the fund Age: 68

Steven Spurrier is an independent wine consultant of world renown, presently based in London. His clients currently include Christie’s and Singapore Airlines, and have included Harrods in London and Hediard in Paris. He is currently Consultant Editor for Decanter magazine, the pre-eminent UK wine journal, and Vice President of the Circle of Wine Writers. Steven Spurrier created the greatly acclaimed Christie’s Wine Courses in 1982. Before moving back to London in 1988, Steven Spurrier had worked in the wine trade in Paris since 1970. He is the author of several books on wine, including L’Academie du Vin Wine Course and L’Academie du Vin Guide to French Wines. He has won a number of acclaimed wine prizes and awards.
